We just returned from a weekend in our camper. Each outing is a little bit different depending on where you're camping and whether or not anyone else is joining you, but a few things are always the same.
When you're out camping, the everyday pressures of life can't help but fade into the background. You have no schedule, no place to be. The only thing to do is cook and relax. And the food you cook on the grill or in a Dutch oven over an open fire tastes fantastic.
The other thing we always enjoy are the people. We have found a camaraderie among fellow campers. Generally speaking camping folk are always willing to lend a hand to a stranger, to engage in spontaneous conversations with passersby, or share a warm smile. We stopped and talked to a couple with a beagle this weekend. We talked to them about Mikey and how fun it was to see another cute beagle.
We have no TV and Dave doesn't allow the kids to bring their video games, so we take walks and play cards, and most importantly we do alot of talking and laughing.
It's always a bit hard to pack up and go home. It means back to regular life, but we look forward to our next trip to unwind and reconnect with ourselves and each other.

I still say that camping is best done in an air conditioned hotel!
What great family memories!
